Editing is the bridge between your brain and your reader’s brain. Learn how good writing becomes great in this introductory editing workshop. How can you effectively self-edit your own work? What’s the difference between copyediting and proofreading? How do you know if you need a developmental edit? Answer these questions and more as you practice different editing techniques and get feedback on a sample of your writing. If you're meeting with an editor or agent at the conference, this is the perfect opportunity to polish the material you're presenting.

Participants will:

  • Study the differences between developmental editing, copyediting, proofreading, and other editing variants
  • Learn to recognize common pitfalls
  • Practice different types of editing
  • Receive a comprehensive edit from a professional editor on your 750-word writing sample
