In this workshop, certified mindfulness trainer Mike Kimball will (1) introduce participants to core principles of mindfulness meditation and mindful awareness and (2) teach them some tried-and-true mindfulness skills for managing stress and inviting creativity.
I. Introductions. What stresses you out? What impedes your creative process?
II. What is Mindfulness? Where does it come from and what’s it all about?
III. What is Mindfulness Meditation? Learn the steps for strengthening your attention muscle (simple but not easy!)
IV. Some Tried-and-True Mindfulness Techniques. How can you use mindfulness practice to manage stress and invite creativity?
V. Resources to nourish your craft and practice.
Mike Kimball is a certified mindfulness trainer, owner of Northern Colorado Koru, published author, and anthropologist. He teaches anthropology at the University of Northern Colorado and offers classes in Koru Mindfulness, a four-week program developed by Duke University psychiatrists and designed to offer mindfulness-based stress management skills to college and graduate students.
