INSTRUCTOR: Alison Preston
May 12 ~ 1:30-4:30
Location: The Purple Cup Cafe
Does your teen love to write short stories? Fan fiction? Or maybe you have a budding novelist on your hands?
Bring your half-baked ideas, your works-in-progress, your piece that’s just not quite there, and we’ll use prompts, unconventional writing exercises, and a little critiquing to help you move your work forward and get you thinking in new ways about your writing.
Join us for a fun 3-hour workshop aimed at helping these future best-sellers move their writing further.
Students are to bring a notebook and something to write with.
ALISON PRESTON is a writer and writing teacher. She holds a BFA in writing & literature from Emerson College, and an MA in secondary English education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She has written a collection of stories based in northern Colorado, one of which was recently published, with the broader collection still looking for a home. Over the past few months, she finally mustered the courage to start her first novel, and is hard at work on that project. She teaches creative writing in Denver-area schools for Lighthouse Writers Workshop's Young Writers Program, but she lives in Fort Collins and is thrilled to be teaching youth classes for Northern Colorado Writers for the first time.
