2016 Conference - Writing the Range

2016 NCWC posterThe 11th Annual NCW Conference visited the Old West where attendees were inspired by the vast, wide open possibilities of the publishing world with the hopes of riding off into the sunset with enthusiasm and drive to take their writing to the next level. NYT best-selling author, Grant Blackwood gave a fantastic and inspiring keynote and became one our top-rated speakers! This was our first year at the Fort Collins Marriott after being at the Hilton for 10 years.

2015 Conference - DECADEnce: Ten Years of Writing with Abandon

PosterNCW celebrated 10 years of conferences in 2015 and went all out with an extravagant affair worthy of an F. Scott Fitzgerald party. Author and member of the National Speakers Association's Speaker Hall of Fame, LeAnn Thieman gave an amazing keynote filled with passion, humor, and inspiration that left the audience on their feet. We welcomed local favorites Todd Mitchell, Trai Cartwright, Carrie Visintainer, and Jeff Finlin, along with industry professionals from around the country. 

Never ones to disappoint, the Conference Creative Team visited a local speakeasy to bring you The Bookleggers.

2014 Conference - Writing Odyssey: To Publishing & Beyond



The 9th Annual Northern Colorado Writers Conference went to new realms this year, taking writers on a journey through the vast universe of writing and publishing! Chuck Sambuchino, editor for Writer's Digest Books, and author of How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack, gave a humorour and inspiring keynote. 

Word Artist and author of Advice from a Tree, Ilan Shamir, entertained attendees with poetry set to drums and Colorado Poetry Outloud Champion, Alic Kilduff gave an amazing rendition of her winning poem.

2013 Conference - The Art of Writing


 The 8th Annual Northern Colorado Conference was a huge success. It featured actor, director and travel writer, Andrew McCarthy who gave a funny and inspiring keynote that earned him a standing ovation. We were also treated to a recitation by high school senior and Colorado's Poetry Outloud winner, Alice K.

The conference centered around the idea that all good writing emerges from those writers who have the heart of an artist. Over the course of the two-day event, writers were educated, inspired, entertained, motivated and encouraged to continue on their writing journey. 

The NCW Creative Team outdid itself this year with its original movie, The Artist and the Writer.

2012 Conference - Take the Road Less Traveled


 The 2012 Northern Colorado Writers Conference focused on Taking The Road Less Traveled. Keynote Speaker Jim Davidson shared his harrowing account of a mountain climbing accident that took the life of his climbing partner and forced him to dig deep into himself to find the strength to climb out of the 80 foot crevasse they had plunged into. Over the course of the 2-day event attendees soaked in information from industry professionals, met with agents and editors and were inspired to continue on their writing journeys.

2011 Conference - Passport to Writing


2011 took the 120 participants on a Passport to Writing. The conference began with a variety of sessions taught by agents, editors, authors and other industry professionals. After enjoying some networking time during the Sky Club Cocktail hour, everyone boarded NCW Air where the flight attendants gave the safety briefing. Dom Testa's keynote address both entertained and motivated everyone. Saturday was packed with sessions, agent/editor pitch sessions and the popular slush-pile reading. 2010 Conference

Stephen Cannell keynoteThe 2010 NCW Conference was a huge success. 160 people from all over the country descended upon Fort Collins for the event. Stephen Cannell kicked off the event by talking about his writing journey and life in LA as a televsion writer. Following his talk, the breakout sessions by industry professionals started and all the attendees scattered to the various workshop rooms. The Creative Team rolled out the red carpet for everyone for the evening networking event and dinner. Saturday was packed with more workshops and individual agent/editor pitch sessions. The event closed with a one-hour performance by the Bovine Metropolis Improv group.

2009 Conference

2009_logo_448.jpgThe 4th annual 2009 Northern Colorado Writers Conference was the biggest yet. There were 150 people who enjoyed the 24 workshops, participated in agent pitch sessions, met other writers and were inspired.
